UnixStickers Review: Where to Fulfill Your Geeky Needs

I don’t tend to be a person who spends a lot of money on decorative things, even if the decoration is on a piece of clothing that I’m going to be buying anyway. Because of that, I was slightly hesitant when unixstickers.com contacted me and asked me to do a review. I decided to do it anyway, and that’s what you’re going to see from me today. Full Disclosure: they are not paying me to right this review, but I did receive some items for free in order to review them.

Making Up for Misplaced Passion

I love JavaScript. I love programming in general, but despite its numerous downsides, I have enjoyed JavaScript more than any other language, especially with the recent developments coming in ES2015. There is just one problem: God is supposed to be my primary love and JavaScript shouldn’t even be in the top 3, and I have shown very little love for God in a way that the masses could distinguish.

Saving Bits and Pixels: The Geek's Gospel

I know that this blog is supposed to be about programming in JavaScript, but this blog is also personal. Personally, this is very important to me, even more important than any application that can be created by human hands. I’ve come to realize that there are many people who have no idea what the Gospel is, or they have misconceptions about it, or just lack understanding of it. I’ve come up with this analogy that I believe many will be able to relate to. It is imperfect, just like every other analogy out there, but it gets the point across and can help bring us all a little understanding of how God feels about us and what he did for us.

It's Time to Move On: The End of Weekly Posts

This is hard for me to say because I know that there are a lot of people out there who have come to expect and enjoy the weekly posts on this site, but I have to leave the weekly post behind. Don’t worry, I’ll still post, but not very often.

Announcement: Probable Down Time

I have exciting and potentially dreadful news. Currently this site is hosted on my previous employer’s servers. I’m currently taking steps to migrate this site to my own hosting. This is great news, e

Dreadfully Busy

I’m busy, busy, dreadfully busyYou’ve no idea what I have to do.Busy, busy, shockingly busyMuch, much too busy for you.

Recording Software Fail

Does anyone know any good FREE screencast recording software? I’ve been using Camstudio for a while and with my first 5 tutorials it seemed great. Now it randomly decides to hate me and flash black screens in the middle of recording. I’ve finally gotten to the point of starting the Backbone App video tutorial series but I can’t get the recording to work right, so it’s delayed until I can find something that works. If I can’t find something within 24 hours, you’ll receive written tutorial for something else instead until I can find a solution.

Calling All JavaScript Writers

Keeping a blog maintained solo, while creating useful projects and making updates to the design of the site, can be quite the stressful for a husband and father. I’m having a hard time keeping up the pace. I started this blog because I love JavaScript and I wanted to help other JavaScripters keep up with the times and learn, but now I need some help fulfilling that dream. If you know anything about JavaScript and can write relatively well, I’d like to hear from you.

Another Failure

Hi everyone. There will be no post from me today (other than this one of course). I worked on the video tutorial for requestAnimationFrame last night and had nearly finished it when I realized that my recording software made a bunch of glitches whenever I was in the Chrome window. I’ll be re-recording it tonight using Firefox, so it’ll be available tomorrow morning. Sorry if I threw off your reading schedule. I’ll post the video as soon as it’s ready.

Delays

Due to scheduling conflicts and inaccessibility to proper equipment, no post will be released today. Instead Part 3 of the Backbone.js Video series will be released on Tuesday, April 10th. If you missed any of the series thus far, I recommend catching up before the new one comes out, by using the links below.
